Two Bushey and Watford Phab Leaders Julian and Brian on Wednesday 11th April 2019 took part in the Group Travel Organisers (GTO) Eurostar trip to Brussels to assess the suitability for Phab and its members no matter their special needs the use of Eurostar and Brussels in particular and to increase the clubs useful contacts.
Day started by traveling to Eurostar St Pacras London where we met GTO organisers and other group reps. We boarded Eurostar train to Brussels where got to discus using Eurostar with our groups and we had a Art appreciation talk related to Belgium. On arriving in Brussels we had a tour of main square, before waffles in local bar with chance to discuss group visits with local tourist officials before moving on to tour of chocolate museum then some free time before travelling back.
Eurostar is easy and comfortable to use and Brussels is well worth a visit.
We investigated what the special needs access was and found that the high tech Eurostar trains can take people with special needs but group needs to contact Eurostar to organise trip before hand who are very willing to help, Brussels being a historical city has its issues for people with special needs but tourist staff willing to help overcome them.
